I have recently completed a law degree at Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka | the University of Otago. My areas of interest include Māori Land Law, Law and Indigenous Peoples, Law and Medicine, and Information and Data Protection Law. I am passionate about understanding how tikanga Māori, as a source of law, is recognised and upheld in Aotearoa, particularly in its interpretation, application, and impact on mātauranga Māori.
During 2024/2025, I worked with Associate Professor Lara Greaves to create a resource inventory on Māori Data Sovereignty. This inventory is a curated collection of book chapters, articles, reports, frameworks, principles, policy documents, websites, videos, and other resources that explore Māori and Indigenous Data Sovereignty.
Over the summer of 2025/2026, I was awarded the Ngā Motu Whakahī Scholarship from the University of Auckland, where I again worked with A/Professor Greaves. For this summer project, I am creating a literature search on the intersection of indigeneity and artificial intelligence.
During my time at iNZight, I have focused on developing a step-by-step framework to operationalise Indigenous Data Sovereignty in Aotearoa, aimed at guiding those who wish to engage with, collect, reuse, or access Indigenous data.
Outside of study and work, I am an avid reader and enjoy physical activities such as snowboarding, hot yoga, and Pilates.
